About This Race
Backcountry Rise explores the Mt. Margaret Backcountry on the northern blast zone side of Mount St. Helens — a rugged landscape shaped by the 1980 eruption. Expect sapphire lakes, wildflower slopes, toothy ridgelines, and wide-open views where the power and resilience of the mountain is impossible to miss.
The 50K and 20 Miler deliver big climbs and sweeping descents with long stretches of remote trail, while the Half Marathon runs the classic loop around Coldwater Lake. All races start and finish at the Mount St. Helens Science & Learning Center above Coldwater Lake.
